Our livers are the silent warriors within us, working behind the scenes to keep us healthy and vibrant. This Golden Glow Sunday, let's ditch the detox fads and unlock a deeper understanding of the liver!
Today, we're celebrating the incredible liver, our body's unsung hero – and its surprising connection to our emotional well-being.
The Liver: Our Detoxifying Machine
Imagine a natural filtration system working 24/7 to remove toxins, process nutrients, and ensure smooth digestion. That's the magic of our liver! It acts as a barrier, filtering out environmental toxins that we are exposed to daily and transforming them into harmless waste products. It also plays a vital role in storing vitamins and minerals, regulating blood sugar, and producing essential proteins for various bodily functions!
The Emotional Landscape of the Liver
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) sheds light on the link between the liver and our emotions. According to TCM, the liver is associated with the Wood element, symbolizing growth, creativity, and healthy flow of energy. When our liver energy is balanced, we experience feelings of compassion, flexibility, and a zest for life.
However, when the liver's energy becomes stagnant due to unprocessed emotions like anger, frustration, resentment, or arrogance, it can manifest in physical symptoms like headaches, fatigue, digestive issues and more.
Louise Hay beautifully captured this connection:
"When you listen with love to your body’s messages, you will fuel it with the food it needs, exercise it, and love it. I believe we contribute to every so-called dis-ease in our body. The body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of your inner thoughts and beliefs. The body is always talking to you, if you will take the time to listen. Every cell within your body responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak. It’s an act of love to take care of your body.”
EFT: Tapping into Emotional Harmony
One powerful tool to manage these emotions is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). EFT involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on a negative emotion or situation. This tapping is believed to help disrupt the energy patterns associated with those emotions, promoting a sense of calm and well-being.
A Simple EFT Tapping Exercise for Anger
Here's a basic EFT tapping sequence you can try when you're feeling angry:
Setup: Briefly state the issue you're facing, for example, "Even though I'm feeling really angry about [situation],..."
Rate the Intensity: Rate your anger on a scale of 0 (no intensity) to 10 (extremely intense).
Begin Tapping: While focusing on your chosen statement, tap gently on the karate chop point (the side of your hand, just below your pinky finger). Repeat the statement 3 times while tapping.
Tapping Sequence: Continue tapping on the following acupressure points while repeating a shortened version of your statement that focuses on the emotional aspect (e.g., "I'm so angry").
Eyebrow: "This anger..."
Side of Eye: "...is getting to me."
Under Eye: "I feel so frustrated."
Under Nose: "I wish I could calm down."
Chin: "But I'm just so angry right now."
Collarbone: "This is holding me back."
Under Arm: "I need to let it go."
Re-evaluate: After tapping through the sequence, take a deep breath and re-evaluate your anger level. Repeat the tapping rounds if needed until you feel a noticeable shift.
By combining liver love with techniques like EFT, we can cultivate a holistic approach to well-being, addressing both physical and emotional health. Let's shine a light on our inner power and radiate with our golden glow!
