I know I've been missing in action for the past few Golden Glow Sunday’s, and I wanted to share a personal update with all of you golden goddesses. As many of you know for the past twelve years, I've been battling a rare disease diagnosed by Dana Farber Cancer Center that's required a tremendous amount of strength, resolve, and a global search for answers with top functional medicine doctors.
I've recently started an intensive protocol developed in collaboration with my amazing doctor, Dr. Klinghardt from the Sophia Institute. This protocol incorporates cutting-edge treatments, including INUSpheresis, a blood plasma apheresis only offered in Europe that is used to treat chronic and acute metabolic disorders. This treatment targets what I hope is the final hurdle in my healing process (yahoo!). This approach has filled me with hope, but it also requires a renewed commitment to self-care.
There have been days, throughout these twelve years, when frustration with my body has bubbled up, and spilled over, creating a sense of overwhelm. It's natural for me to want to push through and keep creating, but through this experience, I've learned a profound lesson:
True healing requires honoring the path my body needs to take.
As much as I crave to keep reaching out and connecting with all of you, some days my body simply says NO. Maybe it's a day spent resting in bed after treatments, or an afternoon curled up with a good book, or even a much-needed nap (sometimes daily). It's these moments of self-care, even when they feel unproductive, that are truly helping me heal.
So, this Golden-Glow Sunday, I want to shift the focus to YOU:
What are you doing to listen to your body?
How are you prioritizing your own healing?
Are you truly listening to the subtle cues your body is sending, or are you ignoring them?
Remember, self-care isn't always bubble baths and face masks (although those can be amazing too!). Sometimes, self-care is giving yourself permission to rest, to say no, and to prioritize your healing.
Let's all take a moment to honor our bodies and the healing journeys they're on.
Here's to our golden glow!
