This Golden Glow Sunday, I want to start by asking you:
What sparks joy in your life?
Is it a cherished hobby, a long-forgotten dream, or perhaps the simple pleasure of learning something new? For many of us, life’s busy seasons often push our passions to the back burner. Responsibilities pile up, comfort zones become cozy fortresses, and the thought of venturing out can feel daunting. But as circumstances change, such as our children leaving the nest, we have an opportunity to rediscover them.
It is never too late to reignite that inner spark!
As many of you know, I recently became an empty nester. I also recently earned a Master's in Clinical Nutrition which was an incredibly rewarding experience (a true passion of mine!), but the intense two and a half year program left little room for exploring other areas of my life that craved creativity.
You might be surprised to learn that I minored in art history in college and even worked in an art gallery in New York City after graduation! The fast-paced world of raising a family put those dreams on hold, but the art world has always held a special place in my heart.
This Golden Glow Sunday, I'm making a conscious effort to rekindle that flame. Maybe it's browsing galleries again, taking an art class, or even volunteering at a local museum. The point is, I'm putting myself out there and embracing the possibilities.
Recently, I've also rediscovered my love for backgammon. The click of the dice and the strategic maneuvering bring back warm memories of watching my dad, affectionately known as "Pops" to his grandkids, strategize his next move. Picking up the game again isn't just about the fun of competition; it's a way to feel closer to him.
The key takeaway from this Golden Glow Sunday is the importance of staying curious and open to new experiences. Like many of you, I find comfort in routine, but stepping outside my bubble can be so fulfilling (and scary). Learning backgammon, revisiting the art world – these are just the first steps in this next phase of life.
Your Golden Glow: Finding Your Spark
Use this Golden Glow Sunday to ask yourself a few questions:
What forgotten hobbies or interests could I revisit?
Are there any activities that connect me to cherished memories?
What new experiences could bring a spark of joy into my life?
Let's use this Sunday as a springboard to reignite our inner flames, reconnect with forgotten dreams, and embrace the exciting possibilities that lie ahead. We all have a spark within us, waiting to be rekindled!
