When I began my breast implant journey I meticulously researched doctors and selected what I believed to be one of the top hospitals in Boston. I intended to prioritize safety, and to that end, I specifically requested saline breast implants.
Little did I know that my journey would take an unexpected turn.
The day of explantation, shock and anger set in when I discovered that silicone implants had been placed instead. Yet, amidst the initial shock and anger, this marked the first crucial step towards my healing.
Once I made the decision to explant, I knew that one of the most critical decisions was choosing an expert in breast explant surgery and the method of explantation. I opted for en bloc and total capsulectomy, a process that involves the removal of the entire implant and its surrounding capsule with Dr. Jae Chun of Newport Beach, CA. Many doctors may advise against removing the capsules, claiming they are harmless. However, my research led me to understand that these capsules can harbor toxins and biofilm and contribute to ongoing health issues.
“Our study reports that 96% of patients who underwent bilateral implant removal and total capsulectomies for BII-related symptoms reported improved or complete resolution of symptoms. The advantage of a total capsulectomy is that it prevents substances within the capsule such as silicone or biofilm from escaping into the body. By removing the scar tissue capsules and using drains, the risk that fluid will collect in the surgical site is reduced.” Stephen E. Metzinger, MD, FACS; Christopher Homsy, MD; Magnus J. Chun, BS; Rebecca C. Metzinger, MD
En Bloc Capsulectomy, originating in France, is an explant method designed to safeguard against contamination from substances within the capsule, such as textures, silicone, silicone chemicals, heavy metals, and microorganisms prone to growth in capsules and on implants. In this technique, the surgeon preserves the integrity of the capsule on the breast implant, carefully dissecting around the intact capsule and implant without incising or disturbing the capsule. This meticulous approach aims to shield the patient from potential contamination by preventing the release of silicone and the contents enclosed within the capsule.

Pre-Surgery Preparation:
To prepare for my surgery, I focused on supporting my body's natural detoxification pathways using a comprehensive regime of supplements. Among these, CellCore's BC-ATP, KL Support, Advanced Tudca, and LymphActiv all played a pivotal role. BC-ATP is a powerful formula that targets the mitochondria, the cellular powerhouses responsible for generating energy essential for basic bodily functions. BC-ATP supports mitochondrial function, aiding cellular renewal and safeguarding cells from daily stressors. This not only enhances the body's natural ability to drain and detoxify but also contributes to cognitive function, mental clarity, focus, and physical performance. The proprietary BioActive Carbon® Technology within BC-ATP recharges depleted mineral concentrations, optimizing the ATP cycle for increased energy production.
LymphActiv, another integral component of my pre-surgery preparation, harmonizes Ayurveda and modern biochemistry to maintain optimal lymphatic system function. The lymphatic system's smooth operation is crucial for preventing stagnation of unwanted substances in the body, including the brain, which can lead to issues like brain fog. LymphActiv combines herbs like burdock root and cleavers, acting as mild diuretics to facilitate fluid drainage. Supported by BioActive Carbon® Technology, these herbs are delivered precisely where needed for maximum efficacy. Additional components such as mullein, astragalus root, and red clover extract further enhance fluid drainage.
KL Support became an essential part of my routine due to its role in promoting the natural filtration, detoxification, and drainage processes within the body. A well-functioning liver is vital for efficient detoxification, and KL Support contains N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), an antioxidant that supports detox and enhances glutathione production. This product also incorporates liver- and kidney-supportive herbs like milk thistle, parsley, and gynostemma to ensure smooth progress through the detox protocol.
To activate the body's natural detoxification processes, I incorporated Advanced Tudca. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) is a water-soluble bile acid that facilitates bile release into the gut, aiding in natural detoxification. Advanced Tudca combines TUDCA with BioActive Carbon® Technology, humic and fulvic acid extracts, melatonin, and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). This synergistic blend stimulates essential bile movement, supporting healthy digestion, liver bile duct health, and regular immune function. BioActive Carbon® Technology enhances TUDCA's systemic efficacy, while melatonin acts as a driver to target specific areas, particularly the liver, without causing sleepiness.

From the initial shock of discovering the implant type to the en bloc explant and total capsulectomy, and pre-surgery preparation each decision played a pivotal role in my path to recovery. By sharing my experience, I aim to shed light on the importance of informed choices, comprehensive detoxification, and the need for ongoing awareness in the realm of breast implants.
