My personal narrative begins with a period of adversity: a negative perception of my body during adolescence that manifested as anorexia. Throughout my early adulthood, I experienced cycles of deprivation, indulgence, and guilt, which ultimately led to the diagnosis of various health conditions, including IBS, Hashimoto's disease, and Systemic Mastocytosis, following life-threatening accidents involving my children. When I was only given medications to treat the symptoms of my rare disease, Systemic Mastocytosis, I decided to search for the root causes. I discovered that I had 5 different parasites, Candida overgrowth, high levels of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, nickel, thallium, and mercury), and mold toxicity (ochratoxin A, citrinin, gliotoxin, and mycophenolic acid).
However, a moment of enlightenment occurred, revealing the pivotal role of nutrition in the process of recovery and transformation, both internally and externally.
I realized that nourishing my body with healthy foods was essential for healing my physical and emotional wounds. I began to explore different dietary approaches and experiment with what worked best for me. I also learned the importance of listening to my body and responding to its needs.
Over time, I underwent a profound transformation. My health improved significantly, and I developed a new appreciation for my body and its resilience. I also gained a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection and the power of nutrition to promote healing and well-being.
Inspired by my own journey and witnessing countless people around me struggle, going undiagnosed by doctors, I embarked on my own path. I earned a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition and became a Certified Nutritional Genomics Specialist and certified holistic health coach.
As the founder of Nourishing Lab, I work closely with individuals to identify the root causes of their health challenges and develop personalized nutrition plans to help them heal and thrive.
Personalized nutrition is essential for meeting the unique needs of each individual. I understand the importance of helping people identify underlying factors that may be causing their health problems, especially if they have seen multiple doctors without success. By addressing the root causes, such as heavy metal toxicity, Lyme disease, and parasites, which are often overlooked in traditional diagnoses, true healing can be achieved.
I have joined Substack to reach a wider audience and share my thoughts on a variety of ways to address fundamental issues, such as diet, exercise, meditation, and stress management. I am grateful for the journey I have been on, and I am committed to sharing my story and inspiring others to embrace the power of nutrition to transform their lives.
